POSITION SUMMARY

A Photo Etch Operator operates specialized equipment to etch metal sheets with intricate designs or patterns using a photoresist technique. This job requires knowledge of machinery, chemicals, and photoresist techniques, as well as the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. The Photo Etch Operator works with various metals like stainless steel, copper, and brass to produce precision. They are responsible for maintaining equipment, ensuring quality control, and meeting production deadlines. The Photo Etch Operator plays a crucial role in producing high-quality metal products with intricate designs and patterns.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process panels through conveyorized etch systems per given instructions.

  • Perform in-process visual inspection of chemically cleaned and stripped panels.

  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of rough etched panels.

  • Periodically empty and clean out etch system sumps including safe transport of 55-gallon drums to and from the storage areas.

  • Safely and accurately dispense given amounts of raw chemicals for bath make-ups.

  • Perform routine etch systems maintenance involving checking fluid levels, conveyor transport, spray nozzle performance and filter systems conditions.

  • Periodically assist auxiliary departments including photoresist coating, filter press cleaning and pumping of spent chemistries into treatment tanks.

  • Routine cleaning of process equipment and area.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Knowledge of machinery, tools, and equipment used in metalworking.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in measuring, cutting, and etching metal sheets independently in high volume production area.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Understanding of photoresist techniques, chemical reactions, and metal etching processes

  • Familiarity with safety procedures and protocols for handling chemicals and equipment

  • Knowledge of safety and quality control procedures and standards for metalworking, including wearing personal protective equipment

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings

  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling small metal parts and operating equipment

  • Ability to troubleshoot machinery and equipment issues

  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors while following written and verbal instructions

  • Flexibility and adaptability to changes in production schedules and priorities

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines

  • Strong work ethic and commitment to producing high-quality work.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be required to stand. The employee could frequently be required to walk; use hand to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee could be required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee could occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job could include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
