Position Information

Job Summary:

The Production Planner will schedule and release jobs in ERP in support of the site(s) production plans to best satisfy production requirements (customer and forecast driven), while meeting business objectives of safety, quality, on time delivery, competitive customer lead times, profitability and inventory. The Production Planner will also support daily management activities to ensure commitments are achieved, communicate order status to customer service, and ensure project management teams are supported.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and utilize the site ERP system with a focus on MRP.

  • Understand and communicate order promise dates based on capacity availability both at time of acknowledgement and while work order is in process.

  • Order customer specific material for certain customers/jobs (i.e. labels).

  • Communicate gaps between capacity and demand.

  • Monitor production attainment, assist in root cause/corrective actions to improve.

  • Mitigate issues between production and scheduling.

  • Evaluate slow moving items and work with appropriate groups to propose clean-up, re-work, obsolescence, changes to lot sizing, stock status, etc.

  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels to meet and exceed inventory targets and turns. Ensure jobs are completed in the ERP system timely.

  • Communicate effectively both internally and externally at all levels.

  • Additional functions and requirements may be assigned by supervisor/Manager as deemed appropriate.

  • Flexible to move between customer teams as needed for workload or backup.

  • Special projects as assigned.

Qualification Requirements

Educational/Training Requirement:

  • High School Diploma or general education (GED)

  • Associate degree in Business preferred.

Experience:

  • One to five years’ experience or combination of education and experience with relevant industry training (i.e. APICS, AICP, or other relevant training or certification)

Licenses/Certifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints and standard operating procedures.

  • Ability to assimilate information quickly, possesses strong decision-making abilities and organizational skills.

  • Competent computer skills including Microsoft suites with a focus on Excel.

  • Knowledge of site ERP system, or proficient with material requirement planning (MRP).

  • Understanding of lean concepts.

  • Capable of working within specific policy guidelines receiving general directions.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced and evolving environment.

  • Perform duties to achieve overall business metrics.

  • Excellent communication and follow-up skills.

  • Minimal travel requirements.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be required to stand. The employee could frequently be required to walk; use hand to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee could be required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee could occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
